About the Scholarship
A little practice goes a long way. With Official SAT Practice, focus on exactly what you need to work on most as you prepare for the SAT. There are no time requirements—just take the first step and start prepping for test day.
Students in the class of 2022 who complete at least one Timed Mini Section or one Diagnostic Quiz on Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy® can earn a chance at a $500 scholarship.
College Board will award 500 Opportunity Scholarships every month in January, February, and March to students who practice for the SAT—100 Opportunity Scholarships per month in April through October.
How to Qualify
Complete at least one Timed Mini Section or one Diagnostic Quiz on Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy.
Get Started
- Join College Board Opportunity Scholarships program.
- Sign in to your College Board and Khan Academy accounts.
- Link your College Board and Khan Academy accounts. If you don't have a Khan Academy account, sign up for one for free at satpractice.org.
- If you already have an SAT or PSAT-related test score, practice at least three skills recommended for you to unlock a Timed Mini Section. Then complete the Timed Mini Section.
- If you don’t already have a PSAT-related test or SAT score, start by taking a Diagnostic Quiz. This will qualify you for the scholarship and unlock your personalized SAT practice on Official SAT Practice.

College Board and Khan Academy partnered to offer FREE and personalized Official SAT Practice to help you improve your SAT scores. Official SAT Practice provides personalized skill recommendations based on your previous scores on any PSAT-related test or the SAT.
- How do you link your accounts?
Create a Khan Academy account on satpractice.org and link your College Board and Khan Academy accounts. Next, click the prompt to agree to send your scores from the College Board to Khan Academy to successfully link your accounts. Watch this video for guidance.
You must link your accounts for your one Timed Mini Section or one Diagnostic Quiz to count toward the $500 Opportunity Scholarship.
- How can you earn entries?
Complete either one Timed Mini Section or one Diagnostic Quiz on Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy to earn an entry.
If you have a PSAT-related test or SAT score: Unlock a Timed Mini Section by completing three recommended practice activities. If you don’t have a PSAT-related test or SAT score: Start your practice by completing a Diagnostic Quiz.
Increase Your Chances
More scholarships are awarded in January, February, and March. When you practice early, you have a chance at a higher number of scholarships awarded in those months.
Whenever students whose families earn less than $60,000 a year complete one Timed Mini Section or one Diagnostic Quiz, they’ll earn an extra entry in monthly drawings for scholarships.
Dates and Deadlines
Scholarships are awarded every month from January through October 2021. A new eligibility window starts on the first day of each month and ends at midnight on the last day of the month. The drawing occurs on the first day of the following month.
Drawing Notifications
In January, February, and March, 500 students will be randomly selected on the drawing dates to receive a $500 scholarship. Of those scholarships, 250 will go to students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year.
From April to October, 100 students will be randomly selected on the drawing dates to receive a $500 scholarship. Of those scholarships, 50 will go to students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year.
When you’re selected for a scholarship, you’ll be notified by email and prompted to go to your My Achievements page to see the results.
FAQ
Your My Action Plan progress tracker will update when you’ve earned an entry. After the first drawing, you’ll also see your earned entry on the My Achievements page.
If you linked your Khan Academy account to your College Board account and previously completed a Timed Mini Section or Diagnostic Quiz, you’ll immediately see your practice activity when you join the program.
You must link your Khan Academy account to your College Board account for your one Timed Mini Section or one Diagnostic Quiz to count toward the $500 Opportunity Scholarship.
Your practice activity will update once per day. If you’ve recently practiced on Khan Academy, wait at least 24 hours to see your progress on our site.
