About the Scholarship
Scholarships are a type of financial aid, often known as “free money,” that help you pay for college. Unlike loans, you don’t have to pay back a scholarship award. It’s never too early to start thinking about how to make college affordable, so we created a tool to match you to scholarships based on your background, achievements, and future plans.
Students in the class of 2022 who explore scholarships in College Board Scholarship Search can earn a chance at a $500 scholarship. That’s right: By discovering your own list of other scholarships, personalized for you, you’ll qualify for an Opportunity Scholarship.
College Board will award 100 Opportunity Scholarships every month from July 2021 through February 2022 to students who complete this step to explore scholarships.

Click on the Go Apply button next to each scholarship of interest. This takes you directly to the scholarship site.
- How can I get more scholarship matches?
The Scholarship Search tool matches you with a scholarship opportunity if your profile fulfills a scholarship provider’s requirements. Increase Your Chances
Whenever students whose families earn less than $60,000 a year explore scholarships, they’ll earn an extra entry in monthly drawings and have double the chances at a scholarship.
Dates and Deadlines
Scholarships are awarded every month from July 2021 through February 2022. A new eligibility window starts on the first day of each month and ends at midnight on the last day of the month. The drawing occurs on the first day of the following month.
On the drawing dates, 100 students will be randomly selected to receive a $500 scholarship. Of those scholarships, 50 will go to students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year.
If you’re selected for a scholarship, you’ll be notified by email and prompted to go to your My Achievements page to see the results.
You can earn an entry by clicking Go Apply for one or more other scholarships on College Board Scholarship Search any time after July 1. By clicking Go Apply for any of the other scholarships, you can visit their web sites to learn about their application requirements and timelines.
Your My Action Plan progress tracker will update when you’ve earned an entry. After the first drawing, you’ll also see your earned entry on the My Achievements page.
You must explore other scholarships on College Board Scholarship Search between July 1 and February 28 of your senior year to earn to earn an entry for the Explore Scholarships drawing.
